Reverend Jean Marie Word serves as the Director of Trauma Healing, Faith-Based Outreach & Family Advocacy for the Grow It Foundation. A native of Plainfield, New Jersey's 4th Ward and founder of Word Outreach Ministry for Battered and Abused Women and Children, Rev. Word brings decades of experience in ministry, social services, and therapeutic foster care to the organization.
Her work focuses on supporting families affected by trauma, guiding survivors of domestic violence, and helping justice-impacted individuals find purpose and healing through faith, discipline, and community restoration. Her leadership embodies the heart of Grow It's mission—turning pain into purpose and helping others grow from seed to stalk.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead trauma-informed healing circles, family outreach, and prayer-based support sessions for program participants
- Advocate for battered women, children, and survivors of domestic violence through crisis intervention and spiritual care
- Develop partnerships with local churches, community centers, and family support agencies to expand Grow It's faith-based impact
- Mentor and guide newly released ex-offenders—especially women—through their transition and reintegration
- Collaborate on curriculum development and offer faith-centered reentry programming and workshops for youth and adults

- 20+ years as Meeting Planner and Coordinator for religious organizations nationwide
Therapeutic & Social Services
- Certified Therapeutic Foster Parent with hands-on experience working with vulnerable youth
- Decades of experience in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care
Education & Recognition
- Holds multiple degrees in Human Services, Psychology, and Administrative Technology
- Kappa Beta Delta and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Member
