Biography
Jamillah Monay Benjamin brings over a decade of leadership in medical office management, team development, and administrative operations. As the daughter of J.M. Benjamin, she was directly impacted by his incarceration—a personal experience that fuels her passion for guiding young girls and women whose fathers are or were incarcerated.
Jamillah now uses her journey, professional expertise, and healing process to uplift others through education, outreach, and mentorship under the Grow It Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead support initiatives for daughters of incarcerated fathers, including workshops, healing circles, and mentorship programs
- Develop trauma-informed educational curricula and onboarding materials for youth and women impacted by incarceration
- Oversee scheduling, event coordination, and wellness initiatives for young women across all Grow It sites
- Collaborate with the Director of Reentry & Family Engagement to co-facilitate parent-child reunification programs
- Utilize administrative strengths to support grant documentation, scheduling, reporting, and outreach communications
- Provide leadership development and empowerment coaching for at-risk young women and first-generation professionals
- Train volunteers and community partners on family trauma awareness and best practices for youth engagement
- Support Grow It's data collection, reporting compliance, and public presentations for women-centered programming
Professional Qualifications
Education & Training
- High school diploma, with advanced leadership and supervisory training from Atlantic Health System
- Specialized training in trauma-informed care and family systems
Professional Experience
- 15+ years in patient access, office administration, supervision, and team leadership
- Experience developing training materials and leading new hire onboarding and mentorship programs
- Effective communicator with expertise in facilitation, scheduling, payroll, and data-driven reporting
Lived Experience
- Direct lived experience as a daughter of an incarcerated parent
- Now serving as a mentor for others in similar situations
- Personal healing journey that informs her approach to supporting others
